BBC Creative light up football museum to mark lionesses’ historic win

England’s historic win over Germany in the Women’s Euro 2022 final at a sold-out Wembley Stadium pulled in a peak TV audience of 17.4 million on BBC One, making it the most-watched women’s football game on UK television of all-time and the most-watched programme of 2022 so far.

To mark this historic moment BBC Creative projected a message of celebration on the National Football Museum in Manchester.

The projection, which featured a gigantic image of England captain Leah Williamson, is part of the BBC’s ‘We Know Our Place’ campaign which champions women in sport.

BBC Sport has a long-standing commitment to women's sport that has powered inclusion, growth, and normalisation.

The ‘We Know Our Place’ campaign continues to celebrate the passion, dedication and success of female athletes redefining ‘their place’ this summer and beyond. Women in sport do know their place, it's selling out Wembley; it's in the history books; it's champions of Europe.
