Coca-Cola conjures up a magical Halloween spirit in this nostalgic sci-fi story

‘Ghost’ is a retro story of a boy and a ghost who reach across realities to enjoy a Coke together.

The new spot from dentsuMB UK to celebrate Halloween, follows the launch of Real Magic™, the new global brand philosophy and platform for Coca-Cola unveiled last month.

‘Ghost’ brings a touch of ‘Real Magic’ to Halloween, as Coca-Cola joins with people all over the world in celebrating this iconic cultural moment. Woken in the night by a disturbance, a boy creeps downstairs to find a ghost in the convenience store below. Wanting to help the ghost get the Coke he’s after, the boy passes him a bottle, but the ghost is unable to grasp it. Undeterred, the boy has an idea. Smashing the bottle on the floor, a ghost-bottle rises. Delighted, the ghost grabs it, finally allowing them to enjoy the experience together.

The 30’ film has launched in Japan and Korea, with the 60’ version rolling out more widely around the world across digital channels. The work is also featuring on iconic OOH sites, including 3D billboards Coex KPOP SQUARE, Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea and Shiubuya Coke Vision, Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan, which launches on October 26th.

Pratik Thakar, Head of Global Creative Strategy and Content, Coca-Cola said: “The Real Magic platform is all about identifying moments of connection across cultures and communities, lifting them up and celebrating them. This year, with the launch of a new Coca-Cola Christmas ad just around the corner, we thought we’d also join in the fun and festivities for Hallowe’en, bringing some real Coca-Cola magic and sparkle to fright night.”

“Ghost is a fun story that is very timely for the Halloween holiday. In creating the spot, we wanted to highlight the experience of drinking a Coca-Cola across realities. The Coke isn’t just in the story, it is the story.” – Simon Lloyd, dentsuMB UK CCO added.
