Meanwhile Get ‘Funny For Money’ in Red Nose Day launch

Comic Relief has released a film to launch and promote Red Nose Day 2026, its marquee fundraising event.

The film, created by Meanwhile, shows how Red Nose Day is about tapping into the things Brits do best – having a laugh at our own expense and happily being the punchline of jokes to bring a smile to others. It will run on social media and across the BBC.

A 60 second Red Nose Day launch film features the nation’s favourite hundy Joe Marler, former Lioness and Queen of the Jungle, Jill Scott, and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs The World winner, Tia Kofi, giving us a rousing demonstration of what we, the Great British public, can do to join in and help raise lifechanging money to support people with the vital support and basic essentials they need to survive – food, shelter and safety.

The spot was directed by Chris Cottam, through Chief Productions, who also handled post-production in-house. James Cross, founder and CCO at Meanwhile commented: “We’re so grateful to everyone at Comic Relief for placing their trust in us again this year, and we’ve collectively had real fun working with them on the rollercoaster that is making charity work! It’s been a real joy to collaborate with the charity and the BBC too, and we hope we’ve helped set them up to deliver another brilliant event.”

Jacqui Black, senior creative lead, said: “We were really excited to work with Meanwhile on our Red Nose Day 26 brand film, one of the first times we’ve created a hero piece designed to live across digital and broadcast channels in collaboration with our partners at the BBC. From the outset, we had a clear creative ambition for the film, and Meanwhile and Chief were fantastic partners in helping us realise it.”

Comic Relief was founded in 1985 by Richard Curtis and Sir Lenny Henry, as an opportunity to fundraise through comedy, with the first Red Nose Day taking place in 1988. The campaign is a yearly occurance, and Red Nose Day 2026 will take place on Friday 20th March. The new collection of Red Noses is available on Amazon and a range of Disney Winnie The Pooh T-shirts, totes and much more are available from TK Maxx and Homesense.
