Timberland and Jacquemus indulge in some woodland acrobatics
Presumably because people in 2026 want to see real people doing human feats, Timberland x Jacquemus’ collaboration turns to seesaw acrobatics.
When launching a crocodile-embossed boat shoe, few would expect a forest-based setting complete with a circus seesaw, but this luxury collaboration is built differently.
The latest Timberland and Jacquemus tie-in, rather than simply recolouring an existing product, creates a narrative around why the collaboration exists in the first place.
The newest drop reimagines Timberland's classic boat shoe in brown and navy croc finishes, supported by a playful campaign from Simon Porte.
The film keeps it simple, as we see acrobats leap and balance on a circus seesaw in a woodland setting, creating a surreal visual metaphor for a shoe making the journey from the coast into autumnal territory. ‘Tis the season, I guess.
The narrative
The creative idea is built around the notion that a product traditionally associated with summer and the sea has ventured into a new environment. The forest becomes a visual representation of autumn, and the seesaw mirrors the balance between two very different brands meeting in the middle.
The piece works because Jacquemus has built its reputation around finding joy in the absurd and turning everyday objects into high-fashion storytelling devices. The seesaw action adds a captivating, yet oddly soothing element.
There is little time spent showing the shoes; instead, the time is spent building a visual world for the product.
The collab allows Timberland access to Jacquemus's associations with the French Riviera, contemporary luxury, colour and youthful fashion culture. Jacquemus, meanwhile, harnesses a bit of Timberland's outdoor credibility.
It’s oddball, whimsical and luxurious, but don't mistake that for a lack of strategy.
