Very launches the “Very best excuses” at Christmas

As the festive season draws nearer, online retailer Very continues to build momentum around its Very Best Excuses campaign, with a new 60 second TV ad celebrating those things we can only get away with at this time of year. This follows on from their October advert that celebrated early shoppers.
Very’s 2021 ad campaign celebrates the fact that Christmas is the ultimate excuse to get away with almost anything.
Everyone has their joyful family traditions, from decorating every single part of your house (even the dog!) to Christmas movie nights in matching festive jumpers, and Very wants to champion these moments of joy after the disruption of last year.
Set to a choir of carol singers performing a version of “Holly Jolly Christmas”, the advert features a whole host of guilty pleasures, including dressing babies up in festive costumes, drinking gin in your PJs, while binging on period dramas and treating yourself, whether that’s via a video game console you bought for your newborn, or treating yourself to a gift that may even outshine the one you’re giving away.
Carly O’Brien, chief marketing officer at The Very Group, commented: “At Very, our purpose is about enabling people to purchase what they need – be it treats or everyday items – that create joy “this Very moment”. After Christmas was pared back for many last year by last-minute lockdowns, we wanted to get into the spirit early and unashamedly embrace the season as soon as the leaves start to fall. As the ultimate Christmas enthusiasts and champions of now, we have focused on empowering and enabling our customers to say yes to all the excuses that make their Christmas so wonderful.”
The advert is
part of a multi-media Christmas campaign running
from October 1st and throughout the festive period that
covers key consumer touch-points across all
media channels and invites us
all to unashamedly embrace
the excuses that are unique to the season and make
Christmas so special.
