You’ve got to hand it to ŌURA

ŌURA is leading the pack for the most visually distinctive health-tech ad in recent years, embracing human craft for a handy bit of world-building.

ŌURA, the creator of the Oura Ring, a smart ring designed for health and fitness tracking is carving a distinctive aesthetic in an often generic market.

Director Sam Walker’s production involved 35 model makers, 14 hand performers, 12 miniature sets, three weeks of construction, and a 20-foot miniature street model.

Filmed on location in Prague, the ad builds on Oura's ‘Give Us The Finger’ platform.

The technical execution relies heavily on practical effects and precise human movement.

Rather than relying entirely on CGI, the creative team leaned into tactile storytelling, hiring choreographer Lilach Chen to direct the 14 "hand dancers".

The resulting sequences feature everything from working miniature subway cars to a fingerboard sequence heavily inspired by old-school skateboarding videos.

While competitors typically rely on clean, clinical aesthetics or high-energy fitness montages, ŌURA leans into a playful, stylised reality to explore individuality.

By focusing on how different hands move through this tiny metropolis, the spot visualises the diverse, highly personalised ways people choose to 'live well'.

According to Oura's head of creative, Matt Kipper, the goal was to challenge conventional wellness marketing by injecting a sense of human scale and charm into data-driven technology.

The ad stands out for depicting the range of uses in everyday life for the product, while remaining music-led and instantly understandable.
