Stunt Watch: Butternut Box's poo, Kris Jenner's leak and Lucy Baker’s song

If ever there was a week for Stunt Watch, this is it.
Strap in for an absolute rollercoaster (just gotta ride it, etc).
First up, a dog poo pendant. No, seriously. Fresh dog food brand Butternut Box has launched a poo(ch) pendant (their pun, to be clear), made from gold, with a preserved dog poo sample sealed within. Because your pet’s gut health is worth its weight in gold…
I almost don’t know what to say, a sentiment shared in the assets by the frankly astonished-looking dog. They have a talent attached that isn’t necessary, but otherwise, it’s dog food and people are talking about it. So good for them.
@butternutbox 💩✨ DOG POO… but make it luxury. We’ve turned perfect poos into pendants worth £9,500 (yes, really) to show the world that good gut health is worth its weight in gold. Comment “perfect poo” to get a DM with the link to join the waitlist for our limited-edition Poo(ch) Pendant. #ButternutBox#PerfectPoo#GutRising#FreshFoodForDogs#GutHealthGoals♬ So crazy rn - unforgettable.966
Up next, a story that finally allows me to ask “are we done with the fake PR ‘leak’ yet? Please?".
I suppose Kris has to make the repayments on that alleged $250k age-defying new face (I’d do the same, no judgement from me). So she’s teamed up with MAC, on an interestingly named ‘I Only Wear Mac’ campaign.
However, unfortunately, the assets are tarnished with a ‘for internal use only’ watermark after a ‘leak’, which even more unfortunately, journalists did not play ball with. The Metro wrote; “The photo, posted by Kris to Instagram in a PR stunt dressed up as a ‘leak’, was later deleted, but not before the MAC press office sent it to journalists’ inboxes.”. Bahahahahahhaa.
I would say it didn’t need the leak, and also that if it wanted to show the real effectiveness of its make-up, perhaps a 70-year-old wearing their first face would make more sense? But it’s Kris, on her first big outing with face three, so who can blame it?
Just please, can we drop the fake leaks? No one’s falling for it.
Also in the media again this week was Lucy Baker’s excellent TFL ‘Look Up’ campaign, created and put into action earlier this year.
She realised people in priority seats weren’t giving them up because they simply weren’t looking up, so pushed TFL to include stickers on the floor telling them to do just that. This week, she calls for them to take some good press post-strikes and roll the idea out.
As a formerly pregnant commuter (I can concur, this is an issue) and a Lucy fan, I wanted to give this campaign its place in Stunt Watch archives.
And finally, and let me tell you this addition was controversial with the Stunt Watch massive, Bonnie Blue’s latest stunt, the Bonk Bus.
A ‘bus’ with a bed (looks more like a van to me, but ‘Vag Van’ clearly wasn’t seen as appealing), travelling from Glasgow to London, erm… meeting students during freshers week.
I think she’s worth debating because her marketing success is undeniable. I’m not commenting here on the morality of what she’s actually doing (though I will at the pub, I appear to have an unpopular view), but the sheer tenacity of the woman.
She’s like a 70s strip club owner, and seems to have found the exact formula for bringing back to life relatively ‘classic’ stunts, and getting people talking about them. She could be described as 'the tabloid Marina Abramović', and if anything, she gives a peek into a side of society that most of us wouldn’t otherwise be aware of. Whether that’s her point, or the millions and millions of pounds she is now worth… who can tell.
