Uncommon’s Ecover ad plays with location-specific themes

Uncommon’s latest campaign for Ecover delivers a sustainable message, bespoke for the various locations at which the OOH adverts appear.

Ecover, the eco-friendly cleaning and laundry brand, has had a laudable run with Uncommon Creative Studio, with catchy campaigns winning plaudits. It recently unveiled a striking new billboard campaign titled ‘Waste No Space’, teaming up with the agency once again to raise awareness about the importance of efficient dishwashing practices and reducing waste.

The "Waste No Space" campaign features a series of eye-catching billboards that depict everyday items such as cars, trains, and suitcases packed with crockery. These visuals are designed to illustrate the concept of making the most out of every wash by ensuring dishwashers are fully loaded before running them

The campaign's core message is simple yet impactful: "If it’s not full, it’s wasteful". Ecover's research has found that nearly 80% of consumers run their dishwashers before they are full, leading to significant water and energy waste. By encouraging consumers to wait until their dishwashers are fully loaded, Ecover aims to promote more sustainable dishwashing habits

The billboards, which have been placed in prominent outdoor locations and print media, including a takeover of Oxford Circus underground, reflect Ecover’s long-running commitment to sustainability.

Our take

Ecover is a company I always associate with my mum, who was a bit of a hippy back in the day, insisting on environmentally leaning brands with fair trade and eco credentials way back in the 80s. Well, on a long enough timeline, it turns out she was right about everything: and this sort of eco-consciousness has become the norm in consumer spending today.

Ecover has been given prominence of late, thanks in no small part to Uncommon, and there’s certainly no shortage of authenticity to the brand’s messaging: as my mum can attest.

The bold, yet earthy colours and fonts, mixed with a little humour play well for Ecover, whose adverts are now far more visually appealing and memorable than I ever remember them being.
