SIXT jump on the Oasis trend, revealing the top 20 lyrics

As we collectively reminisce about Oasis’ cultural impact, a vehicle hire company is drawing our attention to their road trip worthy lyricism. But what’s your favourite?
The research, commissioned by international mobility provider SIXT, comes on the back of a competition to get Oasis fans behind the wheel of a premium BMW for a free rental as they travel to one of the band’s upcoming London gigs from 1-3 August.
A poll of 2,000 adults also found “I said maybe, you’re gonna be the one that saves me”, from ‘Wonderwall’ and "Can I ride with you in your BMW?” from ‘Supersonic’ were popular. “Don’t look back in anger, I heard you say” was named the most memorable. “You and I are gonna live forever” from Live Forever, and Stand By Me’s “Stand by me, nobody knows the way it's gonna be’, completed the top five.
Other iconic lyrics to feature in the top 20 included “All your dreams are made when you’re chained to the mirror and the razor blade” from What’s the Story Morning Glory, and “We believe in one another” from Acquiesce.
Andrew Smith, MD of the brand in the UK, said: “The level of excitement around the band’s reunion is rarely seen, so this is our tribute, inspired by the lyrics we love. It also emerged that some of the most popular lyrics have proved influential for fans, with 13 per cent reconnecting with others because of one of the songs."

Additionally, 19 per cent look out for cultural or social relevance when thinking of lyrics that stuck with them.

Our take
Initially, I was a little sceptical about ‘another Oasis brand campaign’, but it turns out a little dive into the band’s past lyrics piqued my nostalgia a bit, so goddammit I’m back in.
My own ‘Oasis journey’ was a bit swayed by the media-fabricated ‘Blur vs Oasis’ battle. I went from being ‘Team Oasis’ at a time when school desks were etched with odes to the Gallagher brothers, to slowly being won over by some of Blur’s later albums, like 13 and even Think Tank.
As a result, I slightly suppressed my early Oasis fanboi leanings, and the recent concerts have fuelled a newfound appreciation to their singalong anthems, but more so an era when bands could truly ‘rule the world’.
SIXT have got me reflecting on the core of the band’s work, and internally singing the songs again. From a brand perspective, sometimes not overthinking a campaign can work well.
A great campaign doesn’t always need a master plan.
