The BOOB Box and a ‘Grow your gut’ gym class among SHOOK’s annual Black Friday Sale

Creative communications agency SHOOK has launched its ‘Black Friday Sale’ for the second year running, offering brands the chance to buy ideas ranging from a ‘Day 'n' Night toothpaste’ to ‘AI-ghty days travelling with AI’.

The first-of-its-kind initiative successfully launched last year, and after another creative-filled year, with award-winning campaigns for clients and potentially award-winning ideas that just haven’t found a home (yet), there are plenty of ideas waiting to be snapped up by cash buyers or charity spy-ers.

One of the ideas featured in the inaugural 2024 sale, ‘Inequality Street’, was brought to life by Leopard Co for homelessness charity SIFA Fireside, winning two awards!

SHOOK co-founder, Gemma Moroney, says: “We got a lotta love last year for the twist on selling ideas rather than stuff, so this had to become an annual thing. We know clever, creative ideas change business fortunes, brands and behaviour. We’ll always be behind getting more of them out into the world. They’re no good sitting on a PostIt or in a notebook.”

The ideas for sale span opportunities for brands, retailers, charities and campaigning organisations, including:

1. The BOOB Box

Insight: 6 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every hour in the UK.

Idea: The BOOB Box. A special half dozen box of doughnuts, decorated with different signs of breast cancer. The aim is to get women to take an hour during Breast Cancer Awareness month to chat about checks, signs and symptoms with their pals over a doughnut and a cuppa. Krispy Kreme, Asda, M&S, this one’s for you.

2. Mate-tress Moves

Insight: 50% of renters live in a flatshare, meaning room for guests staying over is at a premium.
Idea: The Mate-tress is a mattress with a built-in partition, so if you’re having someone stay over but don’t have much room, you can each have your own space when sharing a bed. A top solution for top and tailing!

3. Day 'n' Night Toothpaste

Insight: There’s a whole Reddit thread on mint toothpaste being too ‘energising’ at night.
Idea: Day 'n' Night toothpaste, a toothpaste of two halves. One side of the tube is a minty, morning flavour, the other end (also with a nozzle) is a soporific substance (lavender, camomile, Horlicks?) ‘guaranteed’ to help you drift off into sweet dreams…

4. Something for the Weekend

Insight: The algorithm has killed spontaneity, with more people no longer taking advantage of last-minute ideas.
Idea: Something for the Weekend. A vending machine offering ready-packed overnight bags for a variety of weekends away. Toothbrush, shower gel, clothes, tickets and city guide all included.

5. Lady INjustice

Insight: 3.6 million people, or around 1 in 20, a year in the UK, do not get access to the legal help they need.
Idea: Create 360 miniature Lady INjustice statues and display them as an installation outside the Royal Courts of Justice, each one representing 10,000 people failed by the justice system.

6. Diversi-tea

Insight: What makes English Breakfast tea English?
Idea: Make a modern English Breakfast Tea blend that celebrates the brilliant blend of nationalities in the UK, with tea ingredients that represent a whole range of different nations and celebrate the power of diversi-tea.

7. Dust Off Your ‘L’ Plates

Insight: You can drive a car at 17 - after passing not one but TWO tests - but to get financial credit at 18, all you have to do is sign on the dotted line.
Idea: Develop a Credit Theory Test to help young people be credit literate before they turn 18. Going further than the new curriculum plans, and hopefully helping more people avoid getting into debt and financial difficulty by ensuring they understand everything from APR to 0% transfers.

8. Around the world in AI-ghty days

Insight: People are overwhelmed by choice, from what country to visit on holiday to what to do when you get there. Researching everything can turn into a full-time job. What we crave isn’t more information - it’s liberation from it.
Idea: What if AI could help? Offer talent the chance to travel around the world in AI-ghty days, using AI as their in-pocket travel agent and guide, making all the decisions. The only task? Do it in eighty days and document as they go.

9. An AIudience with...

Insight: We all remember the teachers who made subjects feel human. In a world of screens, students are seeking deeper, more interactive ways to learn.
Idea: Let’s talk directly to the people who shaped history, and turn study into conversation, with AI. Partner with a respected cultural institution and launch an event where students can submit their burning questions. The panel? The legendary dead historical figures that students are studying. Think Shakespeare, Alan Turing, Barbara Hepworth - the list goes on.

10. New Year, New Poo

Insight: Come January, everyone’s talking about how to lose weight. In fact, it’s more searched than constipation, diarrhoea or IBS…
Idea: Subvert the New Year diet trend, with the world’s first gym class designed to grow your gut. Back it with research about how many NY’s resolutions are about how we look, not how we feel and why growing your microbiome is the real secret to looking and feeling good - inside and out.

From now until 5 December, brands can buy ideas direct from the SHOOK SHOP.

All ideas are the IP of SHOOK until paid for by invoice, transfer, cash, cheque, crypto etc.
